Women Empowerment in Business

We  empower women economically by supporting them in capacity building and  financial empowerment programs through business training skills, resources, and opportunities needed to compete equitably in markets.

The Lioness Maasai Women business (LMWB) is a community-based handicraft workshop program that empowers disadvantaged Maasai women and preserves the Maasai beading tradition. The LMWB enables Maasai women to apply their beading skills to produce and sell their handcrafted products, providing them with a reliable source of their own income. LMEB is a women empowerment initiative to empower women for economic growth and to bring out their potential as maasai women in tourism. At five to six years of age, every Maasai girl starts developing her unique beading techniques learning from their elder sisters and mother. In our program we create a platform to earn from their skill and offer them with employment and a reliable source of income to women.

The Maasai people of Kenya are well known for their traditional handmade beaded jewellery – it has been an important part of Maasai culture for many years. Almost daily Maasai women set aside time to work on beaded jewellery like colorful necklaces, bracelets, and pendants. It is considered the duty of every Maasai woman to learn the jewellery making craft. Traditionally the bead work is made by women but is worn by both sexes, and has important cultural significance. The bead work an individual wears reflects their age and social status.

All this jewelry is made with the best quality beads. We sell a series of traditional beadwork and alongside get the help of creative volunteers from the fashion industry to come up with fashionable competitive designs.

We are looking forward for this project to benefit the women of the local Maasai community.Having said that, we are always happy to welcome any individuals or organisations that may want to assist us with training and equipment of the project but most importantly to better implement its purpose for the improved livelihoods of the women.
