Health Education to Women and Girls

We support our girls by training them on their personal Health & Screening program and supply the Maasai women with sanitary pads. They become aware of who they really are and the measures to take to understand their reproductive health.

Menstruation is a biological process, but the myths and taboos surrounding it have perpetuated for generations. These myths can lead to shame, ignorance, and even limit access to essential menstrual hygiene products. It’s high time we dismantle these barriers.

Empowering Women Through Sanitary Napkins

LMO has dedicated itself to empowering women through access to sanitary napkins. we understand that access to safe and reliable menstrual hygiene products is not just a matter of convenience; it’s a matter of dignity and health. But access to sanitary napkins is only part of the equation. We need comprehensive menstrual health education.

Understanding one’s body and menstrual cycle empowers women to make informed choices about their health. Education challenges myths and taboos, helping to break the stigma surrounding menstruation. Proper menstrual health education ensures that women use sanitary products safely, reducing the risk of infections. Around the world, there are initiatives and organizations working tirelessly to break the taboo surrounding menstruation. From educational programs in schools to community outreach efforts, these initiatives are slowly but surely reshaping societal norms.

LMO is looking for partners willing to provide sanitary napkins; to become  advocates for menstrual health education too to our maasai women and girls. We believe that access to sanitary products must go hand-in-hand with knowledge and understanding. Through these products and initiatives, you will be making a positive impact on women’s lives. Breaking the menstrual health taboo requires collective action. It’s a conversation that needs to happen in schools, communities, workplaces, and homes. Let’s encourage open dialogues, support initiatives, and ensure every woman has access to safe and reliable menstrual hygiene products.

Maasai girls face a range of challenges that may compromise their chances of completing school or their sexual and reproductive health. These challenges can be even further complicated by girls’ feelings of shame about their bodies, in particular about menstruation, or their lack of sanitary products to help them manage menstruation. Provision of sanitary pads and sex education would alleviate some of those challenges. As LMO we have prioritized provision of pads and health education, regular monthly provision of sanitary pads and sex education. We have positively impacted on school attendance and for those that participated in the sex education felt more positively about menstruation, knew more about sexual and reproductive health, had more equitable gender norms and were more self-confident in the long run. The impact addressing girls’ menstrual health challenges are important, but are better positioned as part of comprehensive sexuality education programs addressing stigma and shame associated with menstruation, access to menstrual products, inequitable gender norms and sexual and reproductive health knowledge gaps

Providing a dignity kit containing sanitary towels, underwear and a sanitary pad wallet promotes a girl’s menstrual hygiene which will in turn increase participation in education, promote hygiene, health and empowerment.
